A Learning
Quest is an interactive learning process that calls for you to immerse
yourselves into the subject matter, exploring role-playing situations
and using the web as a direct source for relevant information.
With this in mind, we have developed this specific Learning Quest
with the sole intent of providing you with an experience that is
remarkably close to a real-life scenario.
Let's get this party started!
1. You will be randomly assigned to one of the three interest groups.
Once you're in a group you'll need to start thinking accordingly
- assessing what is important to you, your well-being and defining
your "newly-discovered" needs and wants pertaining to tourism.
How
can you achieve this? Simple:
(a) SEEK INFORMATION: research the list of websites we have provided
you below and take a look at what other cities are doing… do you
see anything you think would work for your group's needs?
(b) GET TO KNOW THE PRODUCT: Go out on the streets of our beautiful
city and explore with your eyes and your ears… what do you see
that is not helping your cause? What needs to be done?
(c) QUESTIONNAIRES: Take the time to talk to real representatives
of your interest group. Develop questionnaires and find out what
store owners, hotel managers, citizens, your teachers, your parents,
university students and professors think… they know what they
want, just ask!
2.
Prepare a short yet clear presentation illustrating your group's
needs and wants. Present your perspective to the class and listen
carefully to the other group's presentations.
3. Discuss the issues with the entire class and develop a Communications
Brief that best meets the needs of all. This Communications
Brief must clearly outline Goals, Positioning strategy and Target
Audience.
